Chop Chestnut Cabin Rentals,are 5 beautiful, fully furnished secluded cabins that are located in the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park Area of the Daniel Boone National Forest. They are privately owned by a lifelong resident of the area. These cabins are located at the end of the Chop Chestnut Road on land that has been owned by the family for years.
The High Rock area, where Chop Chestnut Road is located, is one of the highest areas in Powell County. This area is noted for beautiful rock formations, where several caves are located, surrounded by hills and valleys.
Chop Chestnut Cabins are located where it is convenient to everything in the area.
From, Chop Chestnut Cabins, go east on Hwy 15 a few miles to the Nada Tunnel, the Red River Gorge, Sky Bridge Park and Natural Bridge State Park. At these areas there are lots of activities for the families, horseback riding, and hiking, canoeing down the Red River or on the lake at Mill Creek. The fishing is great at both of those locations or take the kids to the farm to fish in one of the small lakes. There is also backpacking, rock climbing, and activities at Hoe Down Island. Rock Climbing in this area is one of the best in the United States. Climbers come from all the states, Canada and several other countries. 4 wheeling is a great sport here also. You can ride your 4/wheeler right from the cabin.
There are several shops to purchase local crafts, mouth watering homemade fudge at Peddlers Mall, and many local antiques of the mountains.
On Tuesday and Saturday nights travel only a few miles to Campton to the Haddix Auctions where you can have fun bidding on antiques and all kinds of bargains and tools.
M& M Auctions are held on Friday nights in Bowen Kentucky, about 6 miles from the cabins. Lots of estate antiques are sold each time. There you can also buy home made burgers and other sandwiches and home made strawberry shortcake and hot fudge cake.
Tiptons General Store is also at Bowen. They make good Pizza and lots of different sandwiches. They will also deliver at the cabins.
From Chop Chestnut Cabin, go west on Hwy 15 a few miles, to Stanton to buy groceries, supplies or take an afternoon to visit the Blue Grass Craft & Antique Mall , the Shabby Chic Mall or several other shops to find antiques or bargains.
Also you can visit Meadowgreen Park for some good Bluegrass music by the top Bluegrass artist, such as the Bill Monroe, Larry Sparks and many more groups.
If you love drag racing the Clay City Raceway is just a few miles and if you love to golf, visit Meadows or Beechfork Golf Courses.
Stantonnow has an array of restaurants. If you love country cooking visit Bruens Restaurant where you can enjoy the best country food prepared by one of the oldest families in the area. We now have Mexican and Oriental and all of the well known fast food restaurants and Pizza shops.
After a day of visiting everything return to the Chop Chestnut Cabins where you are surrounded by beautiful hills and where the only sounds you hear are all the beautiful noises made by the birds the bees and all the animals of the area.
You can grill out dinner or set around the fire and tell about your venture today or soak in the out side hot tub while you watch the moon go down over the hills in front of your cabin.
